It is powered with a low voltage power source through a standard 4 pin XLR male connector. Different connectors are available upon special request. Camera Light is powered with a 12V sealed lead-acid battery pack. It should operate with halogen low voltage type bulbs (51mm, 12V, 20...75W) with the color temperature of approximately 2900-3100°K. The Logocam LE5-S / LE5-D(X/A) has a variable focusing option. It allows an operator to change the beam width from spot to flood and enables extra creative solutions. Before touching the luminaire case make sure that its temperature is low enough. Do not open the luminaire case during operation. Avoid physical shock. Especially when a halogen bulb inserted. Avoid contact with water during operation. Do not connect power source when in contact with water or if you have wet hands or if the connectors are wet. Do not try to insert lamps with sockets other than specified above. It may cause damage to lamp holder. ON-CAMERA LIGHT. MANUAL lommmMm . LOGOCAM LE5-S(X/A) / LE5-D(X/A) OPERATION. Follow the operation order insert the bulb into the luminaire mount the luminaire onto a camcorder connect the luminaire to a power source switch on the luminaire adjust the light beam direction and shape switch off the luminaire allow for sufficient cooling down disconnect from the power source remove the luminaire from the camcorder Inserting the bulb Open the luminaire by loosening the two front-cap-holding screws sufficiently and pulling the front cap off. Unpack the bulb. ! Do not touch quartz glass bulb with bare fingers when a bulb does not have a protective front glass. Especially avoid touching a bulb that has just been switched off. Insert the bulb into the luminaire socket. Push the bulb accurately and firmly. Close the front cap and fasten the screws. Changing the bulb In case of the bulb failure it has to be replaced with a new one. Switch off the luminaire and disconnect the power source. Allow for sufficient cooling down. Then follow the previous clause instructions. Before inserting a new bulb do not forget to pull out a used one. Avoid contact of your fingers with the bulb glass. Mounting Place the luminaire onto a camcorder. Put the luminaire' mounting unit into the camcorder light-
mounting slide and fasten a screw. If a camcorder does not have such slide, use a special mounting screw-bolt. Powering Connect the luminaire to an appropriate power source. When using a Logocam Lighting Kit LK5-
S/D(X), your power source is a 12V/7.2Ah sealed lead-acid battery pack. You may use any other 10-17V power source with a standard 4-pin XLR female connector. Although, when the power source voltage is higher than 14V, the lifetime of the bulb may shorten significantly. Dimming Model LE5-D unlike LE5-S is dimmable. Use a dimming unit plastic fader to start/cease operation. To avoid damage to the battery pack by overdischarge the luminaire has to be turned off when the battery reaches cut-off voltage level. It could be done by turning the plastic fader counterclock-
wise. Unsafe voltage range of the battery is indicated by reduction of the luminaire output and of the color temperature of the beam. ! Do not forget to switch off the luminaire aft stop shooting. Otherwise it may lead to a signifi-
cant and irreversible damage to the battery pack. ON-CAMERA LIGHT. MANUAL 0/11003111 -S(X/A) / LE5-D(X/A) You may adjust the level of the light output from 0 to 100% of the maximum declared power of the bulb. Switching on/off. Use an on/off switch to start/cease operation. To avoid damage to the battery pack by overdis-
charge the luminaire has to be switched off when the battery reaches cut-off voltage level. It could be indicated by the reduction of the luminaire output and of the color temperature of the beam. ! Do not forget to switch off the luminaire after you stop shooting. Otherwise it may lead to a signifi-
cant and irreversible damage to the battery pack. Light beam and color temperature regulation. To correct a beam direction, use an adjustable U-type luminaire holder. For shadowing use a barn-
door unit. To regulate a beam angle you may use different halogen bulbs. The maximum beam spread angles of the MR 16 type halogen bulbs range between 10° and 60°. But we recommend using 20° to 40° bulbs. To correct the color temperature you may use a daylight filter integrated to the barndoor unit. WARRANTY Logocam offers a warranty for each unit sold against defects in workmanship and/or materials for the period of 1 year from the date of purchase through our dealer. Under this warranty, our obligation will be limited to the repair or replacement of the unit by this dealer; such repair or replacement will be FOB of our dealer. Such repair or replacement will be made only after our examination determines that said unit is defective in material and/or workmanship. In case of defect detection you have to stop using defective unit immediately. We exempt any warranty claims when unit has been subject to misuse, abuse, altered or attempted to be repaired other than by Logocam or its official dealer. Under no circumstances shall we be liable for any injury, loss, damage, or expense that result from such misuse or incurred with respect to any defective product that being used deliberately while known to be defective. • Logocam reserves the right to make changes to the production based on technical advances. Dirty terminals may lead to power failure or charge failure. • Clean the battery with a slightly damp cloth, ensure there is no excess water. Do not use a dry cloth, as it may cause generation of static electricity and lead to ignition and bursting of the battery. • The battery contains diluted sulfuric acid, a very toxic substance. If the battery leaks and the liquid spills on the skin or clothing, immediately wash it off with plenty of clean water and consult a doctor. • If any corrosion of the terminals, leakage or deformation of the battery is found, do not use the bat-
tery. • Do not open the battery case as it may cause damage to health. • Avoid discharging the battery with the current higher than 12A. • In countries where there are legal or voluntary regulations on the recycling of rechargeable batteries, please contact your local LOGOCAM dealer for recycling your batteries. Storage Always charge a newly purchased battery before use and also charge a battery, which has not been in use for a long period. The battery gradually loses its capacity due to self-discharge during storage. If the battery is used without being charged, its capacity may not be fully utilized. Contact your local LOGOCAM dealer for replacement. The battery should be replaced when its capacity has decreased to 50% of the initial capacity (at an ambient temperature of 25 °C or below). non. Make sure to turn off the switch of the lighting equipment after use, otherwise excessive discharge may happen. The recommended discharge stop volt-
age depends on the size of the discharge current. You can estimate it with the help of the presented diagram. Plots for several discharge currents show the voltage drop with time and optimal cut-off voltage for each current. Preferably the discharge current should not exceed IcA (9 Amperes for 9 Ah). In the case of larger currents the delivered charge can be much lower than the rated capacity. It may also lead to deterioration of the battery per-

Batteries operate on electrochemical reaction, which converts chemical energy to electric energy. This reaction is reduced as the temperature lowers, thus, available discharge capacity is greatly reduced at temperatures as low as-15°C. For the high temperature side, on the other hand, the discharge temperature should not exceed 50°C in order to prevent deformation of resin materials which house the battery or deterioration of service life. • For detailed charging instructions please consult charger manual. BATTERY CHARGER PROPERTIES The LOGOCAM CS-160(X) charger is specially designed for use in Russia as it has an advanced resistance to voltage instability which is typical for Russian mains. The LOGOCAM CS-160(X) is meant for charging 12 Volts Sealed-Lead-Acid battery packs of 4-15 Ampere-hours capacity. It implements optimal two-step charging cycle. The charger is fully automatic and has an input and output overload protection and polarity switch protection. Due to the above reasons it could be used for fast charge as well as for charged battery maintenance. Do not use the charger with other types of batteries (such as Ni-Cd, Ni-Mh or Li-Ion) • The charger is designed for indoor use only. • Do not open the charger casing. • Do not cover the charger as it may cause overheating and charging failure. • Do not use the charger as a DC power supply for your equipment, as it may be dangerous both for the charger and for the equipment. • Do not connect to mains if you are standing in water, if you have wet hands or if the con-
nectors or cables are wet. Do not put the charger into water. • Do not charge a battery that has been exposed to deep discharge (lower than 8 Volts) because it may deviate substantially from the specified characteristics. Charging such batteries may cause damage to the device. • Do not use the charger if it does not comply with the below specification. CHARGING Before charging it is necessary to make sure that the battery is in working order. In case of acid leakage, connectors sparking or other apparent malfunctions first you should repair or change the battery. For detailed instructions please refer to the battery manual. The parameters of the charger's electric circuit are designed to work at the temperature +25°C and humidity 30-90%. If the battery has been stored or operated at temperatures that lie beyond MANUAL jaaocani CS-160(X). BATTERY CHARGER the specified range you should delay charging for some time to let the battery get the ambient temperature. In case of the temperature divergence of more than 25°C it might take up to 2 hours. Please do not charge battery when it is at temperature lower than +5°C or higher than +35°C as it may cause damage both for the battery and for the charger. Before connecting the charger to a battery plug the charger AC input connector (two-pin plug male) into a mains socket. The charge indicator should turn green. Unloaded output voltage of the charger is 14.2±0.1 Volts. Pull the AC input connector of the charger out of the mains socket. Plug the output connector (XLR 4 pin male) of the charger into the battery connector (XLR 4 pin female). The charge indicator again should turn green. Plug the charger AC input connector into the mains socket with the battery connected. This time the charge indicator should turn red. According to the condition of the battery the charger should automatically switch to one of the predetermined regimes. At this moment the charging current sets at 1.2 - 1.5 Amperes, depending on the battery. (If the battery has gone through several hundred cycles this figure may become lower). As the charging continues, the battery voltage increases. When it reaches 14.2±0.1 Volts, the charger automatically switches to Regime II. At this stage the battery is charged at constant voltage by diminishing current. After the current drops to 0.5 Amperes the charger automatically switches off. At this moment the LED indicator changes color from red to green. Charging can be interrupted anytime by pulling the XLR connector of the charger out of the battery connector or by disconnecting the charger from the mains socket. Charging could be continued after any interval by reinstalling the connection. But we recommend users to avoid interrupting charging process.
