Урок № 4 "Альтернативные виды транспорта"
Тип урока: комбинированный урок
Цель: совершенствование умений и навыков говорения, чтения и письма по теме "Альтернативные виды транспорта" на основе картинок и связного текста.
1. Образовательная:
* познакомить учащихся с новым лексическими единицами и тренировать их употребление в речи;
* активизировать употребление настоящего простого времени;
* формировать навыки письменной речи;
* развивать навыки аудирования с извлечением информации; * закрепить языковые навыки по теме "Альтернативы для будущего";
* совершенствовать навыки работы с текстом; 2. Развивающая: * развивать память и внимание учащихся;
* развивать самостоятельность и инициативность учащихся; * развивать фонематический слух.
3. Воспитательная: * поддерживать интерес к изучению иностранного языка;
* развивать умение работать в коллективе.
Время: 40 минут.
Материалы: аудиозаписи, компьютер, раздаточный материал, доска.

I. Warm-up:
T: Let's do the puzzle. If you guess all the words, you'll know the theme of our lesson.

II Main activity.
1. T: Our environment is very dirty, that is why people invent alternatives to protect land, water and air. Do you know any alternatives?
(Pupils name the alternative types of energy and the teacher writes them on the board.)
T: These are alternative ways to make electricity and save energy. Now look at the pictures, name the alternatives and say what you know about them.

2. T: Today we are going to speak about transport. First of all, let's review what transport we use in our country.
Brainstorming: cars, buses, taxis, motorbikes, trains, trams, trolley-buses, planes, helicopters, underground, boats, ships, bicycles.
(Pupils look at the slides and name the transport.)

T: Let's speak about advantages and disadvantages of our transport.
P-s: On the one hand cars are very comfortable and fast, but on the other hand exhaust fumes from cars pollute our climate, air and reduce oxygen.
On the one hand planes are good and quick, but on the other hand they cause pollution and tremendous heat which affects the environment. And so on.
T: So we see on the one hand transport is good, but on the other hand it pollutes our air, land and water. It causes tremendous damage to our environment.
All over the world people work a lot and try to invent alternative transport. Transport for the 21st century.
3. T: We are going to speak about alternative transport, about its advantages and disadvantages. You will listen to the cassette recorder about one of the alternative transport that has already invented.
(Pupils listen to the cassette and choose the correct letter for each statement on the blackboard.)
1. This story is about

c) flying tram
2. This transport uses
a) wheels
b) electricity
c) electro magnet
3. This train can take
a) heavy things
b) people
c) people and heavy things
(Answers: 1-b, 2-c, 3-b).
T: Open your books on page 131 Ex.3. Here you can see the text about "The flying train" which you have just heard on the tape. There are statements under the text. Work in pairs, read this text to each other and then say if the information in these sentences is true (T), false (F) or not in the text (?).
(Answers: 1.T, 2.T, 3. F, 4.?, 5.?, 6.F, 7.?)

4. T: This is one of the alternative transports, but there are some more in different countries. In some countries people are trying not to use patrol or oil for cars and trains. So they invent new types of transport. In ex. 6.2 on page 70 you can find the information about 4 types of transport.

(The teacher divides the class into 4 groups. Each group gets a sheet of paper with the task. They fill in the information about their alternative transport and then all pupils discuss advantages and disadvantages of their type of transport.)

Disadvantages: 5. T: Now we see the advantages and disadvantages of these types of transport. Can we use this transport in our region, town? Prove your ideas.
III. Follow - up:
Invent a new form of alternative transport for our town: draw a picture, describe your invention and prove the advantages of it.
