Memphis - a town in the southern part of the
USA, located on the Mississippi river. It is the
largest city of Tennessee.
The early history
Before the arrival of
Europeans Indian tribe
Chickasaw lived on the
territory of Memphis.
Spanish Explorer
Hernando de Soto and
two French Explorers
Rene Robert Cavelier
and Sieur de La Salle
were the first who
explored the area of
Memphis.
XX century
Memphis has become the
world's largest market for
cotton and wood. In the
1950s, it was the largest
market in the world of
mules.
During the 1960s the city
had major problems in the
area of civil rights, there
were strikes, people lost
jobs. April 4, 1968 Martin

The sights of the city
For tourists there are

Downtown

The climate of Memphis is
humid subtropical. Winters
are cool, but not cold, with
average January
temperature 5оC. Snow is
a natural phenomenon.
Summers are hot and
humid, average
temperature of July 28оC.
In springs and autumns the
weather is very
changeable. Precipitation
occurs year-round.
Conclusion
Memphis is a beautiful city with an interesting
old history. Now it is a modern economic
centre which is not only famous for its
markets, but also for its famous residents.
It is the place where you go with pleasure!
