I grew up in a family of a poor

the heavy financial situation of the
family attended school less than a
year, but managed to learn to read

Becoming an adult, he began an
independent life, to educate
ourselves, passed the exams and
received permission to practice
law.
Abraham Lincoln (February 12, 1809, Hodgenville,

In his inaugural speech

of the country, but could
not prevent the conflict.
Lincoln won the
election, mostly due
to the support of the
North. In nine
southern states of
Lincoln's name
never appears on the
ballot, and he won
only 2 of 996
counties.
In 1858 he was
nominated as a
candidate for a
place in the US
Senate, was the
competition with
Stephen Douglas.
In 1840, Lincoln met with
Mary Todd, and November 4,

of which only senior - Robert
Lincoln lived long enough.

Lincoln to win the
presidential election of
his opponent, a
supporter of the World

At the initiative of Abraham
Lincoln's act of Homestead it
was adopted May 20, 1862,
according to which every
citizen of the United States
over 21 years and fought on
the side of the Confederacy,
was able to get land from the
public fund of land no more
than 160 acres (65 hectares)

registration collect $ 10.
Five days after the end of
the war, on the day of Good
Friday, April 14, 1865, at a
performance at Ford's
Theater supporter of the
Confederate actor John
Wilkes Booth entered the
presidential box and shot
