(30 November 1874 – 24
January 1965), was a
British statesman, officer in
the British Army and writer.
He received the Nobel Prize
in Literature.
CHILDHOOD AND ADOLESCENCE
Winston Churchill was born on
the 30 November 1874 in the
Palace of Blenheim.
His father Lord Randolph
Churchill devoted himself to
political career and his
mother Lady Randolph
Churchill was keen on
secular life, that is why the
education of young Winston
was
the
governess’
business.
From the 8 to 12 he learned at the
sisters
Thomson’s school
in
Brighton.
At the age of 12 he learned at
Harrow School.
At the age of 19 he entered the
Royal
Military
Academy
Sandburs. In 1895 Churchill
became the second Lieutenant.
MILITARY SERVICE AND LITERARY EXPERIENCE
At the age of 22 he went to South
India with the Malaccan army in
order to participate in the
suppressing the uprising of
Pashtu's in North-West India.
In 1898 the first book of Winston
Churchill's “The story of the Malaccan
Field Force” was printed. This book
brought him success and fee.
In 1899 Churchill resigned
and stood as a candidate for
the election to the Parliament,
but lost his first election.
As a military journalist he
went to South Africa, was
captivated.
After he spent some time in the
United States, where he lectured,
he started the political career in his
homeland.
HAPPY FAMILY LIFE
In 1908 participating in the
election campaign in the
Scottish city of Dundee,
Winston met Clementine
Hazier.
On the 12 September 1908 they
were married. His family life
Churchill called the "serene and
happy". The Churchills had five
children: a son Randolph, and
four daughters — Diana, Sarah,
Marigold and Mary.
POLITICAL CAREER
In 1911 Churchill became the first
Lord of the Admiralty, leading the
British Navy in the First World
war.
He engaged in the creation of the
Royal air force of Britain. In 20-30th years he worked in the
government and Parliament in
various positions.
THE CONTRIBUTION TO THE OVERALL STORY
11 may 1940 after the resignation
of the government Chamberlain,
65-year-old Winston Churchill
first became the Prime Minister of
Greatbritain.
He made a significant contribution to
the defeat of Nazi Germany. In July
1941 the government signed with the
USSR an agreement on joint actions
against fascist Germany.
RETURN TO THE POST OF THE MINISTER
In the parliamentary elections in July 1945 the Labour
party won and Churchill resigned. But in 1951the
conservatives returned to the power, and 77-year-old
Winston Churchill, newly was appointed the Prime
Minister.
ESTIMATED MERIT
In 1953 he received from the hands of the Queen
Elizabeth of England the order of the Garter — the
highest award in Britain.
In the same year he was awarded with the Nobel prize in
literature "for the high mastery in historical and
biographical genres, and for outstanding achievements in
oratory".
LIFE AFTER POLITICS
In April 1955 the 80-year-old Churchill resigned and devoted
himself to painting and literary work: he published his fourvolume "History of the English-speaking peoples".
THE END OF LIFE
Political activity Churchill lasted
until 1965 years: during the six
months before his death in
January 1965 he attended the
meeting of the House of
Commons.
Winston Churchill in London on
24 January 1965 years at age 90,
and was buried in Bladon, close to
Blenheim Palace.
