the British culture as well as a journey through some of its cities.
We will see all the UK's smallest city.
BLACKBURN
ENGLISH TOWN IN THE COUNTY OF
LANCASHIRE, BLACKBURN LIES ON THE BANKS
OF THE RIVER. IT IS LOCATED ON THE SITE OF
FOUR RAILWAY LINES AND NEAR THE RICH COAL
MINES. THE CITY'S NAME WAS FIRST
MENTIONED
IN
CHRONICLES
AS
A
BLACHEBORNE IN 1086. THE ORIGIN OF THE
NAME IS DEFINITELY NOT CLEAR. PERHAPS IT
COMES FROM THE OLD ENGLISH WORD
COMBINATION OF "BLEACH“ AND “BURN",
WHICH MEANS THE "FLOW“. MAYBE THE "HOLY
SOURCE" WAS USED BY THE PRIMITIVE MAN
EVEN DURING THE IRON AGE. IN ADDITION, THE
CITY MAY SIMPLY MEAN «BLACK BURN», OR
"BLACK STREAM."

MARY WAS RECONSTRUCTED ON THE SITE
OF THE XI CENTURY PARISH CHURCH IN
1826. IN 1926 THE CHURCH RECEIVED THE
STATUS OF A CATHEDRAL.

KING JAMES III. KERKWALL WAS BADLY
DAMAGED DURING THE FEUDAL WARS OF

ORKNEY RADIO MUSEUM HOUSES A COLLECTION OF RADIO SETS
FOR DOMESTIC AND MILITARY PURPOSES, CREATED IN THE UNITED
STATES AND THE UNITED KINGDOM.
THIS MUSEUM IS DEDICATED TO THE HISTORY OF THE ORKNEY
ISLANDS. IT IS A JOURNEY THROUGH TIME, WHICH BEGINS IN
THE STONE AGE, PASSES THROUGH THE ERA OF THE PICTS

SCOTLAND'S LARGEST CITY, LOCATED IN THE WEST
HIGHLANDS, IN THE MOUNTAIN PART OF THE
COUNTRY. GREAT COMBINATION OF THE
SCOTTISH MOUNTAINS, BEAUTIFUL RIVERS, LAKES
AND THE HISTORIC TOWN OF FORT WILLIAM
TURNED INTO A VERY POPULAR TOURIST
DESTINATION.
IN 1860 THE FORT WAS DISMANTLED, AND
FINALLY RAZED TO THE GROUND IN 1890 DURING
THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE RAILWAY AND
STATION.

THE WEST HIGHLAND MUSEUM IS ONE OF THE OLDEST
MUSEUMS IN THE HIGHLANDS. IT WAS FOUNDED IN 1922 BY A
GROUP OF LOCAL ENTHUSIASTS LED BY VICTOR HODGSON,
WHO HAD NEITHER A COLLECTION NOR A BUILDING TO
DISPLAY IT IN.
PREMIER INN IS IN THE HEART OF FORT WILLIAM AND IS IDEAL
FOR VISITING BEN NEVIS AND THE SURROUNDING
COUNTRYSIDE. IT OFFERS FREE PARKING. THE TRAIN STATION IS
0,32 KM AWAY. EACH ROOM IS EQUIPPED WITH MODERN
AMENITIES.
BANGOR
TOWN IN WALES, GWYNEDD COUNTY. IT IS
LOCATED OFF THE COAST OF THE IRISH SEA. IN
ADDITION TO 8000 STUDENTS OF BANGOR
UNIVERSITY, IT IS A HOME FOR 13 THOUSAND
PEOPLE.
BANGOR WAS FOUNDED IN THE 6TH CENTURY. FIRST
BANGOR CATHEDRAL WAS LAID HERE. THE FIRST
BUILDING OF THE CATHEDRAL TO THIS DAY HAS NOT
BEEN PRESERVED - IT BURNED DOWN IN 1402
DURING THE UPRISING OF OWAIN GLYNDŴR, AND
MODERN BUILDING WAS BUILT IN THE LATE 15TH EARLY 16TH CENTURIES. IN 1884, THE FAMOUS
BANGOR UNIVERSITY WAS FOUNDED.

PENRHYN CASTLE
THE PURPOSE OF THE MUSEUM AND ART GALLERY GWYNEDD
IS TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE UNDERSTANDING OF THE HISTORY
AND CULTURE OF GWYNEDD AND ITS PEOPLE BY COLLECTING
AND PROVIDING ACCESS TO THEIR COLLECTIONS, WHERE
EVERYONE CAN JOIN THIS RICH HERITAGE.
PENRHYN CASTLE, AS WE SEE IT TODAY, WAS BUILT BETWEEN
1820 AND 1840 BY ARCHITECT THOMAS HOPPER, WHO
EXTENDED AND TRANSFORMED BEYOND RECOGNITION THE
ORIGINAL MANOR HOUSE, LOCATED HERE BEFORE.
