Canada
In Canada there are people of many
nationalities.
There
are
two
official
languages in this country, English and
French. English spoken in Canada is a bit
different from British English: there are
some
pronunciation
and
grammatical
differences.
The red and write Canadian flag shows a
leaf of the maple tree , which grows in North
America. The maple leaf is the official
emblem of Canada.
THE CAPITAL IS OTTAWA
Ottawa is capital of Canada, and as its economic,
political, administrative and cultural centre. It
is in the east of a province of Ontario on the
river Ottawa. The population large part is
made
by
British,
Frenchmen,
Italians,
Germans, Ukrainians and Greeks. And only
insignificant part is made by direct natives of
the Asian countries and descendants of the
American Indians. Official languages are
French and English. The basic part of the
believing population - Christians.
Attractions of Canada
Niagara Falls
Niagara Falls are some of the largest, most beautiful,
and most famous waterfalls in the world. There are
three parts to the falls, but the two main sections are
the concave Horseshoe Falls, 640 meters across
running from the Canadian shore to the American
shore, and the American Falls, about 330 meters
across, in the State of New York. There is also a small
third section located between these two, known
as Bridal Veil Falls. On the Canadian side of the falls,
a walkway stretches from above the falls all the way
along the edge of the gorge, providing spectacular
views. At night, the falls are lit up in different colors.
The Rocky Mountains are on the list of Canadian
top attractions
The Rocky Mountains are part of the
longest mountain range in the world. They run
down the western part of North America,
from Alaska to Mexico and continue as the Andes
Mountains in South America.
The Rocky Mountains are almost 5,000 km long
and, in the central part of the USA, almost 500 km
wide. The mountains are made up of many separate
ranges. The highest peak is Mt.Elbert,
which reaches 4,400 metres. .
The Rocky Mountains separate the flow of
rivers in America. Some of them take a
short steep route to the west and flow into the
Pacific, some flow to the east into the Gulf of
Mexico and Mississippi River.
The climate can turn out to be very cold and
Arctic in the northern parts, but warm
and
desert-like
towards
the
south.
In
middle heights there are many forests with
aspen, pine and fir trees. Higher up you can
find hemlock and spruce.
Great Britain
Great Britain is an island nation.
Usually it is shortened to the United
Kingdom or UK or Great Britain. It's
one of the world's smallest countries it's twice smaller than France or Spain.
However, there are only nine other
countries with more people, and
London is the world's seventh biggest
city.
In Britain you can meet people of
many different nationalities.
The capital of the UK is London. The
official language is English. Do you
know that English is made up of AngloSaxon, French and Latin? It also
includes a lot of words from Greek and
other languages, even Russian.
SCOTLAND
Scotland is a country that occupies the northern
third of the island of Great Britain. It is part of
the United Kingdom, and shares a land border to
the south with England. It is bounded by
the North Sea to the east, the Atlantic Ocean to
the north and west, and the North Channel
and Irish Sea to the southwest. In addition to the
mainland, Scotland consists of over 790 islands
including the Northern Isles and the Hebrides.

CAPITAL OF SCOTLAND
Edinburgh, capital of Scotland, is one of
Britain's
most
attractive
cities.
It's a city for people who like to walk. You are
never far from green parks, gardens and hills even in the main shopping streets. It's a busy
and modern city, but history is everywhere.
At the top of the highest hill in
Edinburgh
is
Edinburgh
Castle.
Soldiers have marched through its
gates for nearly a thousand years. It
was the home of Scotland's royal
family until the year 1603 when King
James the Sixth of Scotland became
king of England as well and went south
to live in London.
NORTHERN IRELAND
Northern Ireland is the smallest country in
the United Kingdom, situated on the second
largest island of the British Isles. It
occupies one-sixth of the island it shares
with the independent Republic of Ireland.
Northern Ireland is composed of six of the
twenty-nine counties of Ireland, covering
about 5,452 square miles. It is separated
from the Republic of Ireland by a three-
hundred-mile-long
artificial
boundary.
BELFAST IS THE CAPITAL OF NORTHERN IRELAND
The capital of Northern Ireland is Belfast. The largest city in
Northern Ireland Belfast has a population of 270,000 with 600,000
in the inner city and wider metropolitan area. It has the hustle and
bustle of city life you would not find anywhere else in Ireland.
Belfast resembles other industrial ports like Glasgow and
Liverpool, surrounded by elegant Victorian buildings and fantastic
shopping streets.
New Zealand
New Zealand is a small country in the Pacific Ocean. It consists of two major islands.
When it's summer in Europe, it's winter in New Zealand. But the school year still starts in autumn — in February! When it's time to go
to bed in Europe, It's time to go to work in New Zealand.
The capital of New Zealand is Wellington. The population of country is mixed. Some people came from Britain many years ago. Some
Maori people lived here before the British came. Official languages are English and Maori. But English is spoken in very unusual way in
New Zealand. It is often called Kiwi English.
New Zealand is sometimes called «The Worlds Biggest Farm». It is famous for its products: butter, cheese, meat.
THE CAPITAL IS WELLINGTON
Wellington, capital city, port, and major
commercial centre of New Zealand,
located in the extreme south of North
Island. It lies on the shores and hills
surrounding Wellington Harbour (Port
Nicholson), an almost landlocked bay that
is ranked among the world’s finest
harbours. Mount Victoria rises 643 feet
(196 metres) near the centre of the city.
Wellington is in a fault zone and has
survived several earthquakes.
