NATURAL FORAGE BASE FOR NURSERY PONDS
An article shows the results of zooplankton research in nursery ponds
during vegetative period in 2011 of fish-breeding farms “Khodoriv”, “Rudnyky”,
“Stryy” «Lviv oblrybokombinat» and “Velykyy Lyubin” (Lviv research station of
the Institute of Fisheries NAANU).
It is defined that researched ponds have 76 taxonomic units of zooplankton,
represented by rotifers (Rotatoria) and crustaceans (Cladocera and Copepoda).
Among revealed hydrobionts 36 species belong to Class Rotatoria (47,37 % from
species general number). Among crustacean it were registered 24 species of
Suborder Cladocera (31,58 %) and 16 species of Order Copepoda (21,05 %).
Estimated species mainly are considered to be ponds forms but also they can
occur in the rivers and lakes. The most represented genera are Asplanchna,
Brachionus (rotifers); Ceriodaphnia, Daphnia (cladocerans), Acanthocyclops,
Eudiaptomus (copepods).
Zooplankton quantity and biomass fluctuations are caused by seasonal
changes in its dynamics, fish press and hydrochemical regime in the ponds. The
best indices of zooplankton development registered in nursery ponds of “Lviv
research station of the Institute of Fisheries NAANU” and “Rudnyky”.
