Some people say that it is the most terrible human disaster in the history. Others consider that this historical drama is not very tragic. In this essay it is necessary to analyze both sides of this problem and express my own opinion. Some people guess the Holocaust was an event, which has not got an equivalent. Suddenly all the places where Jews had lived for centuries, for even more than a thousand years, vanished without trace. And I thought that many years from now, a long time after the killing, perhaps Jews might want to hear about the places that vanished, about the life that was and is no more. The first step according to the German's plan was the occupation of the Jewish centre of Lublin. Lublin was the temporary capital of Poland, and the site of institutions created specifically for the welfare of the survivors. The city was called the "Jerusalem of Poland" and its intellectuals were known as the "wise men of Lublin" On the eve of World War II, 122,000 people lived in Lublin. Approximately one third of this population, or 40,000 individuals were Jewish. The Jews of Lublin were amongst the first victims in the area of the General Government to be killed in the gas chambers of Belzec. We must not forget millions and millions simple people... Some people say that the Holocaust was the greatest tragic accident of our life and others say that it was the typical historical event. The fascist point of view cannot be allowed to exist, but I think that people should remember the Holocaust is the most horrible and unforgettable historical event. There is no doubt no people should find themselves in a similar situation. There is hope that such a terrible event will not take part in people's lives in future.
