WORKS IN PROGRESS
emphasizes ongoing clinical or basic
neuroscience research of an
extraordinary nature which
warrants expedited presentation.
WORKS IN PROGRESS will be
prominently displayed during the
poster sessions on Monday or
Tuesday, or included as a platform
presentation. A limited number of
abstracts are selected, with selection
based on scientific merit, timeliness
and anticipated interest to the
membership.
Deadline: August 8, 2003
CRITERIA
DISCLOSURE STATEMENT
The research must be new and of sufficient
scientific importance to merit expedited
presentation and publication.
This statement (see reverse page) must be
completed by first author in order for an
abstract to be considered.
Key aspects of the research must have been
conducted after April 17, 2003
GUIDELINES FOR SUBMITTING
ABSTRACTS ELECTRONICALLY
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
Only use manual carriage returns at the end of
a paragraph, not at the end of each line of text.
Do not use all capitals in a heading. Do not
center text for heading and do not use your
system’s hyphenations or justification features.
Include one printed copy of abstract with the
disc. On the disc’s label, indicate the ANA,
first author's last name, file name and software
used (e.g., Word Perfect 6.1). (Submitting
abstracts electronically is optional).
A letter must accompany the abstract
indicating its significance, timeliness and
describing why it could not have been
submitted for the April 17, 2003 deadline.
Abstracts submitted by FAX will be accepted.
INSTRUCTIONS
Authors need not be members of the ANA, nor
be sponsored by a member. All are welcome to
submit abstracts. Acceptance will be based
entirely upon quality.
Length of Abstract
An abstract, not exceeding 200 words in
length, should be submitted to the Program
Chair. An original must be submitted.
Deadline
Deadline for receipt of abstracts is
August 8, 2003.
Abbreviations
Please spell out all abbreviated terms at first
use or, if many abbreviations are used, attach a
separate sheet listing spelled-out abbreviations.
References
When citing references, provide the name of
first author, title of book, or name of journal
and year published.
Restrictions
No continuation page, illustrations or
tables are to be included.
Abstracts must report work not presented or
published prior to the meeting.
ACCEPTED ABSTRACTS
Notification
Authors of accepted abstracts will be notified
by August 25, 2003.
Presentation
The time allowed for presentations from the
platform and posters may vary according to the
material presented and the needs of the
session. Authors will be notified by the session
chair.
Publication
Annals of Neurology is the official journal of the
ANA. Authors are encouraged to submit
papers presented at the Annual Meeting to the
Editor for consideration by the Editorial Board
of Annals.
Registration
All non-member poster presenters must
register for the meeting and will be required to
pay the Annual Meeting registration fee.
