et al. outline the use of an acetolactate precursor for the specific biosynthetic incorporation of 13C1H3 into the pro-S methyl groups of leucine and valine. This labeling
strategy enhances spectral quality and provides an efficient basis for the application of
solution-state NMR techniques to complex biomolecules.
