Editorial
It’s with a little twinge of sadness that I pen my last
Editorial for Atmospheric Science Letters. It has been
a real privilege to have been involved with ASL from
its beginnings in 1999, and to see the journal grow and
develop into the well regarded publication it is today.
I am very proud of the quality of publications, the
geographical diversity of both the authorship and the
readership, and that the journal continues to publish
articles in very topical areas of research.
However, 7 years is long enough, probably too long,
and its time to hand over to a new Editor who will
be able to take the Journal on into the future. So I

am passing the reigns over to Alan Gadian, from the
University of Leeds, to take on this important role
from the 31 March 2006. I am delighted that Alan has
agreed to take this on and I look forward to seeing
ASL grow and develop under his stewardship. I plan to
continue to be involved at least for the next 12 months
as one of the Associate Editor team, in support to Alan,
and may even now be able to find the time to write
my own article for ASL.
