X-Ray Powder Diffraction Study of the Semiconducting Alloy
Cu2Cd 0.5Mn0.5GeSe4. — As revealed by powder XRD the title compound crystallizes
in the orthorhombic space group Pmn21 with Z = 2 (wurtz-stannite-type structure). The
structure exhibits a three-dimensional arrangement of slightly distorted corner-connected CuSe4, Cd(Mn)Se 4, and GeSe4 tetrahedra. Diluted magnetic semiconductors and
alloys containing Mn are of interest because of the large magneto-optical effects, which
