Crystal Structure of a Novel Cerium Indide Ce6Pt11In14. — Single crystals of the
new title compound are synthesized from the elements in a Pb flux (1150 °C, 2 h). As
revealed by single crystal XRD, Ce6Pt11In14 crystallizes in the monoclinic space group
C2/m with Z = 2. It represents a new type of crystal structure of intermetallic compounds in which one of the Pt atoms is coordinated by eight neighbors only, forming a
distorted cube. All the other Pt atoms have a trigonal prismatic coordination with either
