Asymmetric Synthesis of Cyclic β-Hydroxyallylsilanes via Sequential AllyltitanaClosing Metathesis. — Functionalized rings of various sizes are synthe48- 148 tion-Ring
sized as shown. The ring-closing metathesis reaction occurs with excellent yields for
five-, six-, and seven-membered rings. Attempts to obtain 12-membered rings from
diene (Ve) or its O-acetyl analogue fail. The synthesis of 8-membered ring (XIII) is only
successful in CDCl3. Several transformations of the cycloalkenylsilanes with electrophilic reagents are performed. A first application of this method to the synthesis of
