Crystal Growth and Characterization of the CdGaCrSe(4-x)S(x) System. —
Single crystals of the title compounds (0 ≤ x ≤ 4) are prepared by the chemical vapor-phase transport technique from mixtures of the elements using CdCl2 (x = 1) or
CrCl3 (x = 0, 2, 3, 4) as transporting agent. As revealed by powder XRD, the compounds with x = 1 and 2 crystallize in the tetragonal space group I4, whereas the compounds with x = 3 and 4 crystallize in the cubic space group Fd3m, and the x = 0 compound crystallizes in the rhombohedral space group R3m. The temperature dependence
of the magnetic susceptibility for the samples with x = 0, 1, and 4 exhibits different
