Rapid Synthesis of Nanoparticles of Hexagonal Type In2O3 and Spherical Type
2O3 by Microwave Irradiation. — The title nanoparticles are synthesized with
50- 207 Tl
yields >95% by microwave irradiation of aqueous ammonia solutions of InCl3 and
TlCl3, resp., in a simple domestic microwave oven. The samples are characterized by
powder XRD, TGA, DSC, EDX, TEM, and SAED. The particles are of uniform size
of about 16 nm and 24 nm for Tl2O3 and In2O3, respectively. The synthesized semiconducting oxide nanostructures with different morphologies may have potential applications in optoelectronic nanodevices and nanoscale gas sensors. — (PATRA, C. R.;
