Preparation of H2Ti4O9 with High Specific Surface Area. — Nanocrystals of the
title compound are synthesized from K2Ti4O9 by an exfoliation and reassembly process
through a novel way of ball milling followed by ion-exchange treatment with 1 M HCl.
The samples are characterized by XRD and TEM. The specific surface area of H2Ti4O9
nanocrystals depends on the solution pH and the ball milling time and reaches
328.2 m2g-1, which is ca. 16 times greater than that of fibrous H2Ti4O9 prepared using
