Convenient, Benign and Scalable Synthesis of 2- and 4-Substituted Benzyl— A temperature-programmed consecutive reduction method for the
51- 110 piperidines.
preparation of title piperidine derivatives is developed on hydrogenation at ambient
temperatures in the presence of an acid and Pd-C catalyst alcohols of type (I) or (IV)
give dehydroxylated products. Without isolation the latter are reduced increasing the
reaction temperature to 60—65 °C to give the piperidine ring. The method can be extended to ketones like (IV) and benzyloxy alcohol (VI). — (AGAI, B.;
