radical with a variety of (hetero)aromates proceed mainly under rearomatization (oxidative step). Comparison to analogous reactions of 2-imidazolyl and phenyl radicals
reveal that the directing effects of hetero atoms or methyl substituents in the aromatic
substrates are more important than the polarity of the attacking radical. —
