Luminescent Properties of LaPO4: Eu Nanoparticles and Nanowires. —
and nanowires as well as micrometer particles and micrometer rods of
01- 009 Nanoparticles
the title phosphor are synthesized hydrothermally from mixtures of La2O3, Eu2O3,
HNO3, NaOH, (NH4)2HPO4, and H2O (autoclave, 120 °C, 3 h). The samples are characterized by XRD, SEM, TEM, and excitation and emission spectroscopy. The luminescent quantum efficiency of 5D1 in nanoparticles, nanowires, micrometer particles,
and micrometer rods is 38%, 59%, 49%, and 47%, respectively. Thus the luminescent
quantum efficiency for the 5D1 level of Eu3+ in nanowires is improved over that in bulk
