The Noncentrosymmetric Chain Compounds, A3M2AsSe11 (A: K, Rb, Cs; M: Nb,
Ta). — The compounds A3Nb 2AsSe11 (A: K, Rb, Cs) and K3Ta2AsSe11 are synthesized
in a polyselenoarsenate flux consisting of A2Se, Nb (Ta), As2Se3, and Se (550 °C, evacuated silica tube, 3 d). All four compounds crystallize in the polar monoclinic space
group Cc with Z = 4 (single crystal XRD). The structures are comprised of infinite
chain anions [M2Se2(Se2)3(AsSe 3)]3- (M: Nb, Ta) separated by alkali metal cations. The
compounds are further characterized by UV/VIS, Raman spectroscopy, and DTA. The
energy gaps of these compounds vary between 1.35 and 1.53 eV. — (DO, J.;
