Crystal Structure and Lithium Insertion Properties of Orthorhombic
Li2TiFe(PO4)3 and Li2TiCr(PO4)3. — As revealed by neutron powder diffraction,

title compounds crystallize in the orthorhombic space group Pbna with Z = 4.
Lithium ions are located in a single four-fold coordinated site. Electrochemical insertion of Li proceeds through the reduction of Fe3+ to Fe2+ (≈2.8 V vs. Li+/Li) and Ti4+ to
Ti3+ (≈2.5 V vs. Li+/Li) leading to the new compositions Li3TiCr(PO4)3 and
Li4TiFe(PO4)3, respectively. A solid solution mechanism for the reversible lithium
