Simple and Efficient Route to Prepare Homogeneous Samples of Sr2FeMoO6 with
Degree of Fe/Mo Order. — The title compound is synthesized from a precur03- 018 asorHigh
obtained by thermal decomposition of a gel made from stoichiometric amounts of
SrCO3, Fe(NO3)3, and (NH4)6Mo7O24 dissolved in aqueous HNO3 using EDTA as a
complexant (900 °C, 15 h). The precursor is subsequently encapsulated into a quartz
ampule containing Fe grains (900—1150 °C). The samples are characterized by powder XRD and SEM. They exhibit a high degree of Fe/Mo order and an extremely high
