Four New Thioantimonates(III) with the General Formula [TM(ten)]Sb4S7
Mn, Fe, Co, Zn) with the Transition Metal as Part of a Thioantimonate(III)

Network Synthesized under Solvothermal Conditions and Tuning of the Optical
Band Gap by the Transition Metal Cation. — The new thioantimonates (IV) and
(VI) crystallize isostructurally in the monoclinic space group P21/n with Z = 4. The
[Sb4S7]2- anions are composed of three SbS3 trigonal pyramids and one SbS4 unit which
are connected to Sb3S4 semicubes. The semicubes and SbS3 pyramids are joined in an
alternating fashion yielding infinite [Sb4 S27 ] anionic chain which are interconnected to
layers by weaker Sb—S bonding interactions. The cations are located within pockets
of these layers. The M2+ ions are in a trigonal bipyramidal environment of the four N
atoms of the tren ligand and one S atom of the thioantimonate(III) anion. The optical
band gap depends on the M2+ ion and amounts to 3.11 eV for (IVa), 2.04 eV for (VI),
2.45 eV for (IVb), and 2.60 eV for (IVc). — (SCHAEFER, M.; STAEHLER, R.;
