The Rediscovery of Alfred Werner's Second Hexol. ?
A compound originally prepared by Alfred Werner but structurally misassigned is
shown by three independent X-ray structural analyses to be a hexanuclear species
which can now be regarded as Werner's second hexol. The dark green compound
[Co6(OH)8O2(NH3)14](ZnCl 4)2(Zn(OH2)Cl 3)22O crystallizes in the triclinic space
group P1 with Z = 2 (single crystal XRD). The compound is further characterized by
1
H NMR spectroscopy. [Co 6(OH) 8(O) 2(NH3)14](NO3)62O crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/n with Z = 2. ? (JACKSON, W. G.; MCKEON, J. A.;
