A Comparative Investigation of the Li Insertion Properties of the Novel Fluorophosphate Phases, NaVPO4F and LiVPO4F. — The title compounds are synthesized
via a VPO4 intermediate prepared by a novel carbothermal reduction method followed
by alkali fluoride incorporation using solid state, hydrothermal, and ion exchange
methods. The electrochemical properties of these materials make them potentially suitable for incorporation in both Li and Na ion commercial applications. The electrochemical performance of LiVPO4F suggests that this material may be a replacement candidate for electroactive materials LiCoO2 and LiMn2O4. It is estimated that an electrochemical cell based on a graphite/LiVPO4F couple would operate at an average discharge voltage of around 4.0 V, making its performance characteristics compatible with
