One-Pot Solution-Phase Synthesis of Paramagnetic Co2P Nanorods. — The title
nanorods with width of about 10 nm and length of 200—300 nm are synthesized from
solutions of CoCl2 and yellow phosphorus in aqueous NH3 (autoclave, 220 °C, 24 h).
A synthesis mechanism via active PH3 is proposed. The samples are characterized by
XRD, SEM, and XPS. As revealed by magnetic measurements, they exhibit paramagnetic behavior down to 2 K. It is expected that the Co2P nanorods may offer exciting
opportunities for potential applications in areas of photoelectronic devices in the near
