Catalytic Transmetalation of Alkoxychromium(0) Carbenes to Late Transition
Self-Dimerization and Cyclopropanation Reactions. — A systematic study

of the transfer of carbene from chromium—carbene complexes to Ni and Cu catalysts
is presented. It is shown that the nickel complexes are the least active as compared to
copper and the previously described palladium complexes in the self-dimerization of
carbene complex (I). In contrast, palladium complexes are inefficient in cyclopropanation reactions, while good results are achieved with Ni(PPh3)4, Ni(cod)2 and Cu(0).
γ-Keto esters like (VIII) can be selectively obtained instead of the cyclopropanation
product by proper choice of the catalyst, e.g. Raney nickel. — (DEL AMO, J. C.;
