Structures and Electromagnetic Properties of the A-Site Disordered Ba-Based
Ln0.5Ba0.5MnO3 (Ln: Y and Rare Earth Elements). — The title com06- 015 Manganites;
pounds are synthesized by solid state reaction of Ln2O3, BaCO3, and MnO2 in an argon
flow at 1573 K for 48 h followed by annealing in flowing O2 at 773 K for 48 h. The
samples are characterized by powder XRD, magnetic susceptibility, magnetization, and
resistivity measurements. The compounds crystallize with a primitive cubic perovskite
cell. The magnetic glassy states are unexpectedly dominant as the ground states. Steplike ultrasharp magnetization and resistivity changes are observed in Pr0.5Ba 0.5MnO3.
