X-Ray Investigation of the Ln—Fe—Sn Ternary Systems (Ln: Y, Gd). — Partial
isothermal sections of the phase diagrams of the title systems at 670, 770, and 870 K
are determined. The existence of 1:6:6 ternary intermetallic compounds, which crystallize with either hexagonal or orthorhombic structure types, is confirmed by X-ray phase
analyses using both powder film data and powder diffractograms. A ternary solid solution of insertion type based on the YSn2 phase (ZrSi2-type, space group Cmcm) exists
in the Y—Fe—Sn system. A similar solid solution is confirmed to exist in the
