New Ternary Barium Ruthenates: 10H-Type BaRuO3 and Ba2Ru7O18. — Single
crystals of the title compounds are hydrothermally synthesized from mixtures of RuO2,
BaO2, and H2O (autoclave, 150 MPa, 650 °C, 5 d). 10H-BaRuO3 crystallizes in the
hexagonal space group P63/mmc with Z = 10. Its structure consists of face-shared
dimers and trimers of RuO6 octahedra. Ba2Ru7O18 crystallizes in the triclinic space
group P1 with Z = 1. The structure of this compound is composed of edge-shared
trimers and tetramers of RuO6 octahedra. Both compounds are further characterized by
magnetic susceptibility and electrical resistivity measurements. — (OGAWA, T.;
