Synthesis, Crystal Structure Determination and Vibrational Spectra of Indium(II)
Indium(III) Oxidephosphate, (In2)4+(In3+)2O2(PO4)2. — Colorless single crystals of
In2O(PO4) are grown from In2O3 and phosphorus by chemical vapor transport in the
temperature gradient 800→700 °C using iodine as transport agent. The compound
crystallizes in the triclinic space group P1 with Z = 2. The crystal structure consists of
a three-dimensional network of PO4 tetrahedra and edge-shared In2O10 double-octahedra. The channels within the network contain (In—In)4+ dimers in agreement with the
formula (In2)4+ (In3+)2O2(PO4)2. The compound is further characterized by IR and
