Synthesis and Structural Characterization of K0.33Gd0.67 F2.33 (KGd 2F7) and
K0.31Gd0.69 F1.84O0.27. — K0.33Gd0.67 F2.33 is synthesized by solid state reaction of KF and
GdF3 at 600, 700, 800, and 900 °C. As revealed by powder XRD the sample prepared
at 700 °C crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2/m with Z = 2. Its crystal structure derives from that of the fluorite type. With increasing synthesis temperature, the
X-ray powder pattern exhibits new superstructure diffraction lines. K0.31Gd 0.69F1.83 O0.27
is synthesized by a sol—gel route. Its crystal structure is close to that of K0.33Gd0.67 F2.33
and differs only by a new anionic and cationic ordering. — (GREDIN*, P.;
