Structure and Physical Properties of Ln2Ge2In (Ln: La, Ce, Pr, Nd). — The title
are synthesized by arc-melting of the elements and characterized by pow08- 014 compounds
der and single crystal XRD, electrical resistivity and magnetic measurements. The
compounds with Ln: Pr and Nd crystallize in the space group P4/mbm with Z = 2. Their
structure can be considered as intergrowth of distorted AlB2 and CsCl related slabs of
composition LnGe2 and LnIn, respectively. All compounds exhibit metallic conductivity. La2Ge 2In is a diamagnet, whereas the other compounds exhibit localized magnetism
of Ln3+ ions with complex behavior hinting at canted antiferromagnetism or spin glass
