Intermolecular Coupling of Alkenes to Heterocycles via C—H Bond Activation.
— An efficient and widely applicable method for intermolecular coupling of alkenes
to heterocycles is based on the discovery that weak acids can dramatically enhance
reaction rates. In the presence of PCy3·HCl, tBu2PEt·HCl and PCy3/lutidinium chloride
best results are obtained. Various functional groups can be tolerated; however, some
limitations are also observed. Thus, internal alkenes as well as pyrimidines, indoles,
isoxazoles, indazoles, and pyrazoles do not react under these conditions. — (TAN, K.
