of hydroxynitrile lyase from bitter almonds and from cassava 2-substituted and 3-substituted cyclohexanones can undergo hydrocyanation with moderate to good diastereoselectivity. The steric and electronic nature of substituents affects the catalytic activity
of enzyme. For example, the reaction of 2-alkoxy substituted cyclohexanones leads to
unsatisfactory results, whereas starting from 3-alkoxy substituted analogues good yield
