Molecular Chemisorption of Oxygen on Cu6 Cluster Anions. — As revealed by
resolved UV photoelectron spectroscopy, O2 molecularly adsorbs on C u-6
10- 001 vibrationally
and C u-7 at room temperature. For C u-6 , dissociation of O2 is energetically feasible, but
kinetically hindered. For C u-7 , the nondissociative chemisorption seems to be energetically more favorable than dissociative chemisorption. These results are in contrast to
