Synthesis and Structure of Na4/3Ce26/3(SiO4)6(F1/3O2/3)2; Ionic Conductivity in the
Apatite Series Na4/3Ln 26/3(SiO4)6(F 1/3O2/3)2 (Ln: La, Ce, Gd) and
Na4/3Ce26/3(SiO4)6O2. — The title compound is synthesized by a ceramic route from
mixtures of CeO2, Si, NaF, Na2SiO3, and SiO2 at 1350 °C. Na 4/3Ce26/3(SiO4)6(F1/3 O2/3)2
crystallizes in the hexagonal space group P63/m (single crystal XRD). Na + and Ce 3+ cations are disordered on 4f sites while O2- and F- anions are disordered in the "apatite"
