Synthesis, Crystal Structure and Luminescent Properties of Er2Te4O11. —
The new title compound is prepared by solid state reaction of a 1:4 molar mixture of
Er2O3 and TeO2 (800 °C, evacuated quartz tube, 7 d; 45% yield). Er2Te4O11 crystallizes
in the monoclinic space group C2/c (Z = 4; single crystal XRD) and is isotypic with
other Ln2Te4O11 compounds (Ln: Pr, Nd, Ho). The structure consists of a porous network of linear [Te4O11]6- anions interconnected by the Er3+ cations. The lone pair electrons of TeIV point towards the cavities of the structure. Er2Te4O11 exhibits a strong
emission band at 1530 nm with a luminescence lifetime of 0.275 mn. — (SHEN,
