Synthesis and Characterization of Superparamagnetic Iron Nanocomposites by
Reduction. — Core/shell Fe/NiO nanocomposites are prepared from aque12- 015 Hydrazine
ous solutions of FeCl2, sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate, N 2H4, and NiSO4. They are
characterized by TEM, XRD, and magnetization measurements. The nanocomposites
are stable and show superparamagnetic characteristics with a saturation magnetization
of 87.2 emu/g. The Fe nanocomposites are very useful for ferrofluid technology and
magnetic catalyst supports. They can also be modified to form magnetic polymer microspheres for the immobilization of proteins and affinity ligands. — (YANG, C.;
