Copper-Catalyzed Dimerization of Chromium Fischer Carbene Complexes: Synof Dialkoxytrienes and Their Nazarov-Type Cyclization to 2-Alkoxy-2-cy12- 185 thesis
clopentenones. — In the presence of Cu(I) catalysts Fischer carbene complexes undergo ligand dimerization to afford functionalized olefins and trienes, respectively. The
dimer resulting from (IV) spontaneously undergoes hydrolysis yielding the ketone (V).
Treatment of the trienes with TFA provides a convenient route to cyclopentenone
derivatives. Under Cu(I) catalysis the Fischer aminocarbene (XIII) undergoes ligand
dimerization to give a triene which spontaneously cyclizes to the arene (XIV). —
