Transport and Defect Mechanisms in Cuprous Delafossites. Part 1. Comparison
Hydrothermal and Standard Solid-State Synthesis in CuAlO2. — CuAlO2 is
13- 013 of
prepared by high-temperature solid state reaction of a mixture of the constituent
oxides (1100 °C, 24—36 h) and by low-temperature hydrothermal reaction of aqueous
solutions of CuO, Cu2O, Al, Al 2O3, and NaOH (autoclave, 210 °C). The hydrothermal
samples exhibit an approximately one order of magnitude higher hole concentration
relative to the solid state synthesized samples. This is reflected in the electrical conductivity and may explain the variations in electrical properties reported for CuAlO2. —
