Structures, Phase Transitions and Electrical Properties of Ag5Te2-y SeyCl
(y = 0—0.7). — As revealed by single crystal XRD, Ag5Te1.7Se0.3Cl crystallizes in the
tetragonal space group I4/mcm with Z = 4 and Ag5Te1.9Se 0.1Cl in the monoclinic space
group P21/n with Z = 8 at 298 K. The α—β-phase transition temperature of ion conducting Ag5Te2Cl is lowered by partial substitution of Te by Se. The stabilization of the
α-Ag5Te2Cl structure type in Ag5Te2-ySeyCl around room temperature results in an increase of conductivity of more than two orders of magnitude compared to the ternary
phase. The combination of high conductivities for the high temperature phases and the
ability to choose a defined transition temperature makes the title system a promising
candidate for room temperature as well as low temperature applications such as thermal
