Single Source Precursor Approach for the Sol—Gel Synthesis of Nanocrystalline
ZnFe2O4 and Zinc—Iron Oxide Composites. — Compounds (III) are characterized
by single crystal XRD, IR, and UV/VIS spectroscopy. (IIIa) crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/n with Z = 4. Both compounds are used as precursors to prepare
nanostructured ZnFe2O4 and Zn—Fe oxide composites by sol—gel processing using
either iPrOH or toluene as solvents. The obtained xerogels are annealed at low temperatures (as low as 200 °C) yielding crystalline phases with very small crystallite grain
