Facile Large Scale Synthesis of WS2 Nanotubes from WO3 Nanorods Prepared by
a Hydrothermal Route. — Hexagonal WO3 nanorods of 5—50 nm diameter and
14- 223 150—250
nm length are hydrothermally prepared in gram quantities from an aqueous
solution containing a mixture of (NH4)10W12O41, citric acid, and hexadecyl amine dissolved in EtOH (autoclave, 180 °C, 7 d). WS2 nanotubes are obtained in good yields by
reducing the WO3 nanorods with H2S at 840 °C for 30 min. The samples are characterized by powder XRD, TEM, and SAED. It is suggested that this simple and inexpensive
approach might be extended to the synthesis of other MS2 nanotubes. It is also possible
to control the wall thickness and the length of the nanotubes by selecting appropriate
