Antiferromagnetism of Ln2BaPdO5 (Ln: La, Nd, Pr, Sm, Eu, Gd, Dy, Ho). — The
compounds are prepared by solid state reactions and characterized by magnetic
15- 015 title
susceptibility measurements and powder XRD. The Ln2BaPdO 5 compounds crystallize
in the tetragonal space group P4/mbm and their structures contain layers of rare earth
ions separated by PdO4 tetrahedra. Depending on the nature of the rare earth element,
the compounds exhibit paramagnetism with small temperature-dependent susceptibilities (Ln: La, Eu), or antiferromagnetism with Neel temperatures between 2 and 5 K
