Ni—V2O5·nH2O Core—Shell Nanocable Arrays for Enhanced Electrochemical
Intercalation. — The title nanocable arrays are prepared via formation of Ni nanorod
arrays by template based electrochemical deposition, followed by coating with
V2O5·nH2O by electrophoretic deposition. The samples are characterized by SEM,
TEM, and cyclic voltammetry. With a current density of 1.6 A/g, their Li+ intercalation
capacity is approximately 10 times higher than that of single crystal V2O5 nanorod arrays and 20 times higher than that of sol—gel derived V2O5 films. Both energy density
and powder density of the nanocable-array electrodes are higher than those of V2O5 film
