Existence and the Crystal Structure of Novel Ln3TSi3 Intermetallic Phases
(Ln: Rare Earth; T: Fe, Co, Ni). — The intermetallic compounds Ln 3NiSi3
(Ln: La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd, Tb, Dy, Er, Tm), Ln3FeSi3 (Ln: Er, Tm), and Er3CoSi3 are
synthesized from the elements (1273 K, 20—30 d) and characterized by powder and
single crystal XRD. Within the Ni series, the compounds with Ln: La—Dy crystallize
in the orthorhombic space group Immm (Y3NiSi3-type structure), while the Er- and
Tm-containing compounds, as well as Er3FeSi3, Tm3FeSi3, and Er3CoSi3, crystallize in
the monoclinic space group C2/m (Sc3NiSi3-type structure). — (MERLO*, F.;
