Formation and Magnetic Properties of the Ln-Based Compounds of Type
Ln6Fe 13-xAl1+x (Ln: Pr, Sm, Gd). — Nearly single δ-phase Pr-based compounds of
17- 020 composition
Pr6Fe13-xAl1+x with 1 ≤ x ≤ 4 are synthesized from the elements by
arc-melting. The δ-phase does not exist for Ln: Sm or Gd. Magnetization measurements
reveal antiferromagnetic behavior of the δ-Pr6Fe13-xAl 1+x compounds. The Neel temperatures show a quasi-linear decrease from 320 to 115 K as x increases from 1 to 4. The
results are anticipated to contribute to basic understanding of the magnetic properties
of Ln-based ferromagnetic bulk metallic glass materials. — (MINH, P. T. L.;
